Discover how Solflare uses Birdeye Data’s APIs and WebSockets to deliver zero-latency market data, candlestick charting, and real-time prices to 4M+ Solana users.

For a self-custody wallet operating on a high-throughput network like Solana, market data quality is non-negotiable. Traders, stakers, and DeFi power users expect their portfolio balances to tick over in real-time, their swap quotes to reflect sub-second market shifts, and their charts to render without lag.
Solflare is one of the most widely used Solana-native wallets, trusted by over 4 million active users. As Solana’s token ecosystem expands rapidly, the wallet is no longer just a place to hold assets; it is a primary surface for making critical trading decisions. To ensure every price displayed is accurate and every chart loads instantly, Solflare required an on-chain data provider capable of matching Solana’s speed.
By integrating Birdeye Data’s high-performance APIs and WebSockets, Solflare overhauled its market data layer, delivering smooth candlestick charting, live pricing, and exhaustive token discovery without sacrificing application performance.
Handling live market data at the scale of the Solana ecosystem presents strict architectural hurdles. Traditional data pipelines often buckle under the weight of high-frequency trading and massive token generation events.
Prior to fully integrating Birdeye Data, the core challenge for wallet engineers was delivering real-time updates without triggering infrastructure-crippling polling overload. Relying on standard REST APIs to poll data every second for millions of concurrent users introduces unacceptable latency, rate limits, and degraded user experiences.
Specifically, Solflare needed to solve for:
To address these scaling bottlenecks, Solflare Wallet mapped its core charting, pricing, and discovery features directly to Birdeye Data’s on-chain data infrastructure.
By utilizing a hybrid architecture of targeted REST APIs for deep historical data and Birdeye WebSockets for zero-latency live updates, Solflare optimized both data accuracy and compute efficiency.
To power the visual trading experience, Solflare integrated a suite of Birdeye’s decentralized finance (DeFi) endpoints:
To eliminate the polling overload associated with updating user portfolios, Solflare integrated Birdeye’s WebSocket streams.
Instead of constantly requesting updates and burning through compute limits, the WebSocket streams live data directly to the client. This ensures that when a user is preparing a swap or watching a highly volatile asset, the data is pushed to their screen in milliseconds. For broad portfolio valuation, Solflare utilizes the Price – Multiple (/defi/multi_price) endpoint to fetch the current prices of multiple assets in a single, highly efficient call.
To navigate Solana’s vast asset landscape, Solflare relies on Birdeye’s Token – List (V3) Scroll (/defi/v3/token/list/scroll) endpoint. This allows the wallet to filter the entire list of tokens on the chain based on dynamic input conditions. In a single query, Solflare retrieves verified token metadata, real-time pricing, and essential liquidity metrics, protecting users from interacting with dead or low-liquidity pairs.
Managing data at scale requires clear infrastructure oversight. Solflare leverages Birdeye’s internal Usage Tracking Dashboard to monitor API call distributions and track Compute Unit (CU) consumption in real-time. This visibility allows their engineering team to optimize endpoint queries and predict operational costs accurately.
By outsourcing the heavy lifting of indexing and serving on-chain data to Birdeye, Solflare successfully transformed its wallet into a high-powered trading terminal. The integration directly resulted in a smoother, more responsive user experience, particularly during periods of extreme network load.
Key Results:

As Solana continues to capture institutional and retail volume, Solflare is positioned to support the network’s next phase of growth. Moving forward, the wallet plans to expand its in-app charting capabilities and leverage Birdeye’s WebSockets to build even deeper real-time trading experiences. With Birdeye acting as the foundational data layer, Solflare can continue pushing the boundaries of what a self-custody wallet can do, without ever compromising on speed or UX.
